An internship position with the Fisheries department’s Shrimp Farm, located in Muzaffargarh, will be offered to the new aquaculturist for a period of six months. A candidate with fresh experience will be hired for this position. The trainees will gain valuable skills and develop expertise through these programs.

The government also wants to boost aquaculture in Pakistan by generating more aquaculture output in order to meet international demand for this.

Raising shrimp on 100,000 acres:

According to Maryam Nawaz, shrimp cultivating has huge economic advantages. By using just 100,000 acres of land, she could generate over a billion dollars in output. By making barren land profitable and productive, she would help the economy grow by converting it into shrimp aquaculture. She adds the barren and deserted land of South Punjab into a shrimp aquaculture project.

An allowance of 50,000 for aquaculture interns

For six months of training, the Punjab government will pay the new aquatic farming trainees 50,000 rupees per month so they can run their expenses and their households and develop their aquaculture experience.

Maryam Nawaz said, “Graduates with degrees in aquaculture, zoology, and fisheries will receive shrimp aqua farming training and a stipend of Rs 50,000.

Sourcing 10,000 To 20,000 Internship Jobs

As part of the Aqua Tiger Prawn Farming plan, aquaculturists and investors will be assisted with leased land, incentives, and the necessary equipment to boost shrimp farming. The project will provide 10,000 to 20,000 new employment opportunities for youth.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif declared, “Worldwide, shrimp is in high demand.” This initiative is focusing on cultivating self-employment, financial autonomy, and financial independence among youth.

Application Through Online Portal

The youth having a degree in aquaculture, fishery, and zoology fields can apply for the Aqua Shrimp Farming Internship Programme on the official online portal of the agricultural department. It is unclear what eligibility criteria and how to apply for this program have been set by the government.
