In an effort to combat the growing threat of smog, the announcement was made at the same time as the Lahore High Court (LHC) ruled that schools be given pick-and-drop services following winter break.
School Administrators To Provide Transport To Student
The court mandated that children must use school-provided transportation to get to school.
The LHC bench threatened to seal schools that did not follow these directives. Additionally, it stated that no school should publish written disclaimers that release them from liability for students’ transportation.

Government Notice For Smog Prevention
Government has passed many important orders for preventing the severe effects of Smog and advised the Punjab Government to tackle this matter with extreme cautious and complete management.
According to the written ruling, several persons have been arrested for stubble burning, and the Punjab government has notified the court of the measures being taken to alleviate the pollution problem. Additionally, the department was instructed to keep an extensive database of both private and public buses.
Before this, the Punjab government permitted construction in four areas, including Lahore, and further loosened smog regulations. Following a peak in smog approximately ten days ago, which caused problems for the populace, construction was suspended throughout the province.
Conclusion
The Punjab Government’s announcement of a 20-day winter vacation for schools, coupled with measures to combat smog, reflects a proactive approach to addressing both environmental and educational concerns. The directive for schools to provide transportation and stricter enforcement of anti-smog policies aims to ensure students’ safety and well-being during this critical time.
